Flexible work after military service, before your next trip

Work before a trip needs to fit what you can offer and how long you'll be around. Tadam signup is open; you'll be able to choose individual offers when it launches in Tel Aviv.

You've finished military service, and the trip is taking shape. There might be a ticket in your inbox already, or a group chat still trying to agree on dates. You want to earn in the time before you leave. It helps to know what you could offer someone, and how much of that time you can comfortably commit.

Tadam is designed around individual offers of everyday help. Tadamers choose their skills and decide whether to take each offer. Signup is open ahead of launch in Tel Aviv, but offers haven't started yet. If you're considering work between military service and travel, you can use this time to think about what would fit.

What work could fit between military service and a trip?

Start with something you already know how to do for another person. You might enjoy photography, be comfortable helping someone pack, or explain a subject well. Those are examples of skills shown on Tadam's website. Choose a specific kind of help so you can work out what's involved.

Packing is a useful example. Helping box up books and clothes that someone has already sorted is different from taking responsibility for an entire move. Ask what needs packing, which materials are ready and who decides where everything goes. That gives you a clearer basis for deciding whether you can help.

Having a few months free doesn't mean you need to offer all of them at once. Begin by understanding what you would enjoy doing and where it could fit alongside the other plans you've made since finishing service.

How do you plan short term work before traveling?

If you've booked your departure, decide when you want to finish helping people before you go. It doesn't have to be the day before your flight. Leave yourself time to prepare and see the people you want to see, then look at the period that's available.

When offers begin after launch, check whether a request is for one visit or help over a longer period. Reviewing a particular topic with a learner is different from agreeing to be there every week. An initial request can sound small while the other person is hoping for something ongoing.

Be clear about your end date before agreeing. "I'm here until the end of the month and can help with this session" gives the other person something concrete to work with. They can decide whether that suits them, and you can commit to something you expect to finish.

What if you haven't decided when to leave?

Plan around the part you know. You may be free for the next couple of weeks while everything after that is still undecided. Say that, rather than turning a possible departure date into a firm promise. Not having booked a flight doesn't mean you're available indefinitely.

Keep track of what you've already agreed before moving your travel dates. If a change affects help you've committed to, contact the person promptly and discuss what's possible. Give them the information they need while there's still time to plan, rather than leaving the conversation until you're about to depart.

Can you choose work without fixed shifts before a trip?

Tadam's model has no fixed shifts or minimum hours. After launch, Tadamers will receive offers that connect nearby requests with their selected skills. You can take an offer that fits or skip it.

That choice matters when your time has a planned end. A request that needs you to stay available after your departure doesn't fit, even if you know how to help. A clearly defined visit within the time you have may be worth considering, once you understand the details.

Our guide to flexible work without shifts explains what to clarify before accepting an offer. Before a trip, add your departure date and any expectation of future visits to that conversation.
