What should I know before offering babysitting?
A game and a bedtime story look different in every home. Describe the time you've spent with children, what you did and whether a parent was there. Family experience can be relevant when you explain the setting. Keep it distinct from professional training or responsibility you haven't held.
Ask the parent or guardian who will be home, what the evening involves and who hands over responsibility at each end. Agree on how you'll stay in touch and what to do about a delay or change. Speak up if part of the care is beyond your experience. Resolve that before agreeing, rather than waiting until the parent is leaving.
What can I read before meeting a family?
The guide to babysitting in Tel Aviv covers experience, introductions and the care you'll provide. Start with the question you have now, whether it's what to ask a parent or what to put in your description. Before accepting, check that you have the experience for the care the children need.
School pickup, transport and care requiring specialist knowledge are outside the guide. Keep the family's information private. You can describe the help you've given without publishing children's names, photos or home-access details.
